I’ve been trying to obtain traveling wave solutions to plane Poiseuille flow using findsoln, but have been unable to get a converged solution. I was trying to obtain the results presented in “Exact coherent states and connections to turbulent dynamics in minimal channel flow”, by Park and Graham (2015), for example the P4-LB solution in figure 7(f).

Is anyone able to provide recommendations, and perhaps a working example, of how to find these solutions, and what parameters to use to optimise convergence?

What have you tried so far?

Hi, I think I’ve finally figured it out. I was more or less trying the right things (run DNS with simulateflow to generate an initial guess, pick states that are close to the desired ECS state, and use findsoln). I just didn’t understand how to apply symmetries correctly.
